HOW

30-minute practices followed by 45 minute games
Focus is on learning fundamental skills of catching, throwing, hitting, base running, and fielding.

Sessions Focus:

  • Fundamentals of Throwing & Catching
  • Intro to pitching (2 x’s in 6 weeks)
  • Fielding Fundamentals
  • Hitting and baserunning breakdown
  • Introduction to Conditioning, Speed, and Agility
  • Enhancing HER In game IQ

* Confidence and resilience training implemented into each session

What to Bring

  • Bat
  • Batting gloves
  • Glove
  • Helmet
  • Fielding Mask (if applicable)
  • Mask (For when social distancing becomes challenging)

SAMPLE SCHEDULE

Week 1: Fundamentals of Stretching/Movements/Catching

1:00 PM- Check-In
1:00 PM- Introductions
1:10 PM Dynamic Stretching Breakdown

  • Knee hugs, Quad stretch
  • High Knees, Butt kicks
  • Leg scoops, side lunges
  • A-skips, long skips
  • Open the gate, close the gate
  • Carioca, shuffles
  • Soldiers (opposite hand, opposite foot)

1:15 PM Arm Care

  • Right arm across/left arm across
  • Right arm overhead/left arm over head
  • Palms up circles forward (small to big)
  • Palms down circles backward (small to big)
  • Swimmers
  • Screw in lightbulb/Stir pot
  • Raise the roof/scissors

1:25 PM Ladder Drills, Change of Direction, Baserunning

  • 6 ladder drills
  • Box cones/zigzag cones
  • Straight through 1B (regular/passed balls)
  • Base hits through the infield-rounding the bag/getting back straight (right field vs left field)
  • Taking leads (proper footwork on bag, timing & rhythm, body facing 2B entire time)

1:55 PM Catching

  • Grab your gloves. Let talk about proper catching
  • Thumps up, one hand with transfer hand (for younger ones, two hands but emphasis the why behind it=transfers)
  • Which part of the glove should we be receiving the ball? How close tour body? Why?
  • Transfers

2:10 PM Game

  • Relays with baserunning
  • Relays with catching and moving (Instructor toss)
